Become a Community Contributor
You know your corner of the Grand Strand. We're looking for people who live here to write about what they see: the history of a street, the best time to fish, what a new rule means for your neighborhood.
Community Contributors write under their own name, with their photo and a short bio. You pick the topics and how often you write. Our editors read every piece before it goes up and help with headlines and clarity.
Your byline and author pageYour name, photo, short bio and a link to your website or profile on every piece.
A local audienceYour columns appear on the homepage, on county pages and in our newsletter.
An editor in your cornerWe read, suggest and tidy up. Your voice stays yours.
You keep your rightsYou own what you write. You give us permission to publish it here.
Who writes for us: retired teachers, fishing captains, local historians, military spouses, small-business owners, students and anyone with a view of the Grand Strand worth reading.
The short version of our guidelines
- Original, in your own words, about Brunswick County, Georgetown County or Horry County.
- 500 to 1,200 words. Opinion is welcome; facts need a source.
- No ads in disguise. If you mention your own business or a client, say so.
- No accusations against private people. We don't name people who haven't been convicted.
Community Voices columns are the opinions of their authors, not of Grand Strand Dispatch staff. Read the full contributor guidelines.
