Weather and safety
- Walk on sidewalks or paths, cross at corners and crosswalks, and carry a flashlight or glow stick so drivers can see you.
- Drivers: slow down in neighborhoods between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m., the busiest hours for trick-or-treaters, and never drive after drinking.
- Check treats at home before kids eat them and throw out anything unwrapped or with torn packaging.
- Pick costumes, masks and wigs labeled flame resistant, and use battery candles instead of real ones in jack-o'-lanterns.
