The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, North Carolina, issued a Coastal Flood Advisory at 10:14 p.m. EDT on Oct. 28, 2026, for coastal Horry and Georgetown counties in South Carolina. The advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to noon EDT on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The NWS advisory says up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

Vulnerable causeways to and from local beaches will experience minor coastal flooding, according to the advisory. Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks will also see minor coastal flooding.

The NWS advises drivers not to go around barricades or through water of unknown depth. It says to check with local officials for the latest information on flood impacts and closures.

The same office issued a separate advisory for coastal Pender and coastal Brunswick counties in North Carolina, with up to half a foot of water expected in the same time window.
